Studio49 Rules of Conduct
At Studio49, we are dedicated to maintaining a creative, respectful, and safe environment for all individuals, regardless of age or experience. Please review and follow the rules below to ensure a positive experience for everyone in the space.
1. Respect for Others
Be Respectful: Treat all fellow artists, instructors, and Staff with kindness and respect. Diverse backgrounds, ideas, and art forms are encouraged and should be celebrated.
Positive Interaction: Engage in positive and constructive communication. If conflicts arise, seek resolution calmly and respectfully, or consult Staff for assistance.
Collaborative Environment: Feel free to share ideas and collaborate, but always ask for consent before using someone else's materials or artwork.
2. Personal Space and Belongings
Respect Personal Space: Maintain personal space when working and be mindful of others' projects and materials.
Label Your Belongings: Clearly label any personal materials or tools you bring into the studio space if you want them for private use only. Keep your space tidy and organized to prevent accidents.
Keep Shared Spaces Clean: Clean up your work area when you’re finished, ideally before beginning a new project. Dispose of materials properly, and return any shared tools to their designated locations. Consult with Staff for guidance on best practices.
3. Safety First
Follow Safety Guidelines: Always adhere to safety instructions for tools, equipment, and materials. If you're unsure about how to use something safely, ask an instructor or Staff member.
No Running or Roughhousing: For the safety of yourself and others, please refrain from running, pushing, or engaging in rough play within Studio49.
Wear Protective Gear: When required (e.g., for pottery, painting, or using power tools), wear appropriate protective gear such as aprons, gloves, or goggles.
4. Tools and Equipment
Proper Use of Tools: Use studio tools and equipment for their intended purposes only. If you're unfamiliar with how to use a tool or machine, please ask for assistance before proceeding.
Report Damage: If you notice any tools or equipment that are damaged or malfunctioning, immediately report it to the Staff to prevent accidents or further damage.
Respect Time Limits: Be mindful of shared equipment and workstations. If the studio is busy, limit the time you spend on specific equipment to ensure that everyone has a chance to use it.
5. Art Materials
Respect Shared Materials: Be mindful of the amount of shared materials you use, and return unused portions to the designated area for others to use.
Bring Your Own Supplies: If possible, bring your own materials for personal projects. This ensures that communal supplies are available for others to use as well.
No Waste: Be mindful of waste. Recycle any materials when possible, and use supplies efficiently.
6. Noise Levels and Distractions
Keep Noise at a Comfortable Level: While Studio49 is a space for creativity, please keep noise levels at a reasonable level, especially when others are working.
Cell Phones: Keep cell phone use to a minimum and use headphones if listening to music or videos. If you must take a call, please step outside the workspace to avoid disturbing others.
Respect Quiet Zones: If there are designated quiet areas for focused work, please respect them by keeping conversation to a minimum.
7. Food and Drink
Food and Drink Policy: Studio49 has a variety of snacks and food offered at public events. These items may be consumed at participants’ leisure unless otherwise specified. Studio49 is not held responsible for monitoring the consumption of food on an individual basis or any allergies or food borne illnesses.
Clean Up After Yourself: Dispose of food wrappers and containers properly. If you spill anything, clean it up immediately. Return any dishware used to the back of the studio in kitchen sink and wash them.
8. Behavior and Attitude
No Discrimination or Harassment: This is a safe space for everyone. Harassment, discrimination, bullying, or any form of verbal, physical, or emotional abuse will not be tolerated. Violations may result in removal from the space for a temporary or permanent amount of time,
Inclusive and Supportive Environment: Embrace creativity, diversity, and inclusivity. Everyone, regardless of skill level, should feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Be Open to Learning: Whether you're a beginner or experienced artist, be open to learning from others and sharing your knowledge. This is a space for personal and collective growth.
9. Studio Hours and Access
Respect Studio Hours: Follow the posted studio hours and ensure you're aware of when the space opens and closes. Arrive and leave on time, especially if you are working in a shared space with scheduled classes or events.
No Unauthorized Access: Only use areas or equipment that are designated for your use. Do not enter private or restricted areas without permission from staff.
10. Respect for the Space
Respect the Space: Treat Studio49 as a shared resource. Do not deface or damage walls, floors, or furniture. If you notice any damage to the space, report it immediately to staff.
Decorate with Permission: If you wish to display your artwork in Studio49, ask for permission from Staff before doing so. Be mindful of others' workspaces when hanging or displaying art.
11. Emergency Procedures
Know the Emergency Exits: Familiarize yourself with emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and first-aid kits. In the event of an emergency, follow the instructions of staff or instructors.
Report Accidents: Report any injuries, accidents, or unsafe conditions to Staff immediately.
12. Policy Violations
Compliance with Rules: Failure to adhere to these rules may result in being asked to leave the studio for the day or, in repeated cases, temporary or permanent suspension from the space.
Staff Authority: Staff and instructors have the authority to enforce these rules. They will provide guidance or corrective action if necessary to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
By adhering to these rules, you help ensure that Studio49 remains a space where creativity can flourish and everyone can enjoy a productive, safe, and respectful experience.
